Since we began investigating the use of Shungite way back in 2017 we soon realised that the New Zealand market was literally flooded with fake Shungite. From our own experience we found that reputable gem stores in New Zealand were , albeit unknowingly. selling unknown materials as Shungite.  It didn't make us popular when we later told them we had tested Shungite purchased from their store and that it did not exhibit the unique properties of Shungite and was another 'unidentified' material.
